New digs in the new city

I just moved into my new home this past Saturday and I love it! I've spent the last two weeks visiting several apartments and can't even begin to describe the size and condition of many of them. Most of the apts are teeny tiny (i.e. 400 - 550 sq ft) and for good reason. There are just too many people living in this city so they continue to build high rises and make the apts smaller and smaller. It's such a way of life here. No one that I've spoken to is phased by it either. One other thing I was surprised about was that many of the apts don't have an oven! They usually have electric stoves that they put on top of a counter but the realtor and several coworkers told me most people don't ever bake because it's so hot here. Thought that was strange and so I'm happy my place does have an oven. Let's hope I use it!
I moved my two suitcases into my new place on Saturday and went to buy a few odds and ends at IKEA. I'm so happy they have an IKEA here and it's right in the center of town! Now if only they could build a Target! The apt is furnished so I didn't have to buy too many things which has been really beneficial to me. I can't imagine how much more stressful it would have been if I had to then also buy all of my furniture, appliances, electronics, and various other household items. This place is a perfect one bedroom that's not too far from the MTR (which is the train system here) and close to several groceries stores, restaurants, other public transportation systems, and banks. I can't wait to walk around some more and explore the neighborhood. Oh and my new neighborhood is called Sheung Wan! :)
